Église de l'Espoir des Mille-Îles Ste - Thérèse, Quebec
My wife and I have been in ministry for over 30 years, serving with La Bible Parle. We planted a church in Granby, Quebec from 1994-2004. In 2004 God called us to return to Montreal, where I, Claude, served as assistant pastor with Jeff Laurin. Today, God led us to Église de l’Espoir des Mille-Îles (EBEMI), a church established in 2007. We soon recognized the need for revitalization. After redefining EBEMI's mission, vision, and values, we transitioned to a complete reimplantation project.
Ste-Thérèse and its surrounding communities on the North Shore of Greater Montreal have a diverse population of roughly 165,000, including families, retirees, and CEGEP (college) students. Ste-Thérèse hosts a CEGEP with a large student body and has a growing lower-income and immigrant population in its city center.
Our first community outreach strategy involved weekly involvement with Regain de Vie, a local community aid center that supports individuals facing social and economic challenges. Recently, we initiated a discipleship group for young adults in a local café. Through perseverance, we are beginning to see positive results. On June 16, 2024, EBEMI celebrated its first baptism in 13 years, with 2-3 more baptisms expected by the end of the summer.
