“When you serve, you’re plugged into community.. and when you’re plugged into community, the church doesn’t feel so big anymore.
Earlier this year I was sick with Covid and had to miss a few youth meetings as well as one of our fun Friday events. At this event, my group of girls we’re spotted praying during their pizza dinner. Turns out they were praying for healing for their leader because they had missed her and wanted her to come back to youth! I can’t tell you how touching it is to hear that these girls prayed for me, and to see that they were going to God together for healing for me. On the days when I’ve had a long work day or don’t feel like volunteering I remember that and it gives me the perseverance I need to be faithful to what God has asked me to do and I to keep doing it!
I think a lot of times we think of service as a big sacrifice. It requires us to give of our time, energy, money, etc. and that becomes a barrier towards people taking that step. Well, I can share with you that you receive way more than you give and that the sacrifice pales in comparison to the rewards you reap. God has used service to bless me abundantly in my relationship with Jesus and with a community of believers that have become family. Don’t take my word for it… give it a try, step out in faith and obedience to God and experience it for yourself.”
