Youth Development

Our Youth Development Program is designed to nurture the spiritual formation and leadership potential of young people, offering two dynamic tracks: a Worship Development Track and a Leadership Development Track.

These two tracks both focus on a holistic growth experience—helping youth strengthen their own spiritual formation and relationship with Jesus, serve their peers, and to cultivate leadership qualities to influence culture, spaces and sectors of society for the Kingdom.

LEGACY

The Leadership Track (Legacy) empowers, equips and educates youth in spiritual formation, Biblical leadership, spiritual giftings and practical skills in leadership. Our goal is to invest in this generation to influence culture for the Kingdom and to lead in all spaces of society.

We want to do ministry WITH youth instead of just doing ministry FOR youth. Our goal is to harness the influence that our youth have and encourage and empower them to influence their peers for the Kingdom in all spaces of society. We will accomplish this by developing a culture that seeks to help youth understand their own spiritual formation and leadership in an environment that fosters growth and learning through new opportunities.

Legacy is a yearly experience that runs from September – June for youth in Grades 10-12. Youth will apply and go through an interview process to be accepted into Legacy. Please note that there is limited space in this track and applicants will be contacted if they have been accepted.

Monthly Meetings

Legacy youth will meet once per month to have a meal, a time of teaching and discussion, and grow in different topics from all the way from leadership to spiritual formation.

Service Opportunities

Each Legacy youth will be placed into a group of 2-3 youth along with a coach. Each month, Legacy groups will be assigned to a specific service area (NOWs, Summits, or Grade 5/6 Events). Groups will serve once per month, with additional opportunities should there be time for the individual students.

Coach Meetings

Since each youth is placed with a coach, there is an expectation for each youth to connect with their coach on a regular basis. The coach is just another trusted adult in their life and can connect with them to ask some discipleship questions and encourage them in their faith.

Expectations

Legacy youth will be expected to:

  • Attend each monthly meeting
  • Serve at least once a month
  • Communicate well with their coach

Legacy will not be as beneficial for you if you do not make this part a priority. Legacy is a highly involved part of Youth Ministries and we would love if the applicants are as engaged as they can be. Legacy youth are also expected to attend Community Groups at CSC on a regular basis.

WORSHIP DEVELOPMENT

The Worship Track focuses on a theology of worship, musical competencies, technical competencies. Each participant will learn from a coach who is an expert in their specific instrument. Our goal is to invest in this generation to shape the sound, culture, and atmospheres of worship for the Church and to prepare students to serve in weekend services.

We want to prepare and develop youth in a theology of worship, musical competencies, and technical competencies with the goal of inviting and preparing youth to serve in weekend services.

Worship development track is for youth from Grades 10 to Grade 12 who have a proficiency in their given instrument already. Worship development has limited space and will require a video audition.

Meeting Times

Worship development will meet once a month. Each session will include a short devotional on worship theology, along with music practice and rehearsals. Some months will feature instrument-specific workshops, where youth will focus on developing skills for their particular instrument.

Service Opportunities

Youth will have the chance to play at Summits and may be invited to audition for weekend worship service teams.

Expectations

Youth are expected to attend monthly rehearsal meetings having practiced the music at home beforehand. They should be able to listen to the songs and identify their parts. Additionally, youth are expected to attend weekend worship services at Centre Street Church, and are strongly encourage to be a part of Centre Street Youth, since they lead at Summits!
